As most of you know, we have been working toward full implementation of Illuminate as our Student Information System and our Assessment Suite. The migration from PowerSchool to Illuminate began 2 years ago. We adopted the DnA module of Illuminate in August of 2016. As a network, Catalyst was looking for a better way of aligning our assessments and having access to meaningful data. To that end, we began using the Illuminate Assessment module that fall.
In August of 2017 we added the Behavior Module. Incident Reports, call logs, and any other data on behavior has been entered into Illuminate this year (2017-2018).
As part of the full implementation plan, we moved into Illuminate on July 1, 2018 as our student information system. PowerSchool is no longer "live".
A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to get ready for this conversion. For the past two years, we have been importing data from PowerSchool into Illuminate on a nightly basis to support the DnA side of Illuminate. This means that users, schedules, rosters and demographics were taken directly from PowerSchool into Illuminate. Beginning last fall (Sept 2017) we have slowly moved all other data over to Illuminate including historical attendance, behavior, grades, transcripts, health information, special education status, and language status. You probably noticed these changes as we progressed through the 2017-2018 school year. The scholar and staff schedules are being completed in Illuminate and we expect completion by mid July 2018.
Training....training....training!!
May 14: We had a session where we worked on Scheduling--elementary and high school
May 22 and 23: Main office personnel and MSOC's were trained in attendance, enrollment and other administrative functions.
June: Deans and Administrators trained in administrative functions (creating reports, behavior module, attendance)
August: Summer Institute training on taking attendance, gradebooks, refresher on behavior and assessments, and creating custom reports
We are very excited to be able to harness the power of Illuminate as a tool to help us gather meaningful data that will allow us to make instructional and administrative decisions that will positively impact our scholars, our schools and our community. Stay tuned to this space for updates.
